Was born in 1962 in Bohuslän on the west coast of Sweden. She made her debut in 1992 with Nattvandring (Night Wandering), and Sommarleken (The Summer Game) is her ninth novel. She writes about troubled relationships, loneliness, and belonging, often in historical settings and with a firm grasp of language.
She received the Svenska Dagbladet literature prize in 1998, the Göteborgs-Posten literature prize 2003 and the prestigious Selma Lagerlöf award 2011.
