Östnäs’ Viking Saga nominated for Best Debut Prize!

Elisabeth Östnäs’ much praised debut in the Children’s and YA-genre, The Daughter Of the King (Kungadottern) has been shortlisted for the Slingshot Prize (Best Debut of the year in this genre). The book is the first part of a trilogy called The Saga of Turid.

The jury’s motivation reads as follows:

“The Daughter Of the King is the rare combination of a historical account full of penetrating psychological insights and a thrilling adventure, all in one story. What’s more, it is written in an enriching language. Elisabeth Östnäs elevates the Viking Saga into a work about the most profound conditions for human existence.”

The Prize is awarded by the Children’s and YA-section of the Swedish Writer’s Union. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on April 5.
